Service Dog Training

We have trained and placed many puppies into service and therapy work for autism therapy, physical service, emotional support animals and more. It is critical that dogs committed to a lifetime of service in a public environment get the best possible start at the best age – puppyhood.

Puppy Steps Service Prep

What is it?

Our Puppy Steps Service Prep (PSSP) program helps prepare puppies for service work and public access. Whether you plan to train your own puppy in service tasks, therapy work or continue with a specialized service dog trainer, this program is the perfect start.

How does it work?

As a guideline, the PSSP is similar to and in many points exceeds the standards required to pass:

  • Assistance Dogs International Public Access Test
  • AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification
  • Intermountain Therapy Animals Training Evaluation

Puppies who graduate from the PSSP achieve several standards which are in addition to the test items included in the above mentioned programs.

Puppies graduate ready to serve, lift and heal. Families who enroll their puppy into the PSSP program gain additional information and resources relating to the requirements and etiquette of being accompanied by a service or therapy animal.
